Overview:
Things that can be done Ahead of time:
- Thinly slice beef and toss in cornstarch.
- In a small bowl, combine all sauce ingredients.

Mealtime:
- Pan fry beef strips and remove from pan.
- Garlic & sauce goes into pan.
- Add beef in to sauce & combine until desired consistency.
My family loves this meal, it’s teen approved!
Ingredients
- 1 lb of beef. Suggested cuts: sirloin, flank, or filet.
- 3 tbs cornstarch
- 2 tbs oil
- minced garlic
- 1/2 c soy sauce
- 1/4 c brown sugar
- 3 tbs hoisin sauce
- 1/4 c water
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
Instructions
- Thinly slice beef and toss in 2 tbs cornstarch. This can be done ahead of time.
- Combine soy sauce, brown sugar, hoisin, water, and 1 tbs cornstarch. Whisk together in a small bowl. This too can be done ahead.
- Heat skillet and add oil. Cook beef strips (in batches if necessary) searing steak on both sides until almost cooked. Remove beef to plate.
- Reduce heat, add garlic, and sauce mixture to the same pan. When sauce begins to thicken, add the beef back in to coat and continue thickening until desired consistency.
Served over steamed white rice is our family’s preference!
