My Out of this World Day

Listening to The Cosmic War Against Human Civilization or on SgtReport.com peeked my interest; quantum computing, flying helicopters in near vacuum conditions, and Elon Musk’s talk of colonies on Mars. Fascinating to say the least.

Fierce competition between quantum computer researchers is still raging, between big and small players alike. Among those who have working quantum computers are the traditionally dominant tech companies one would expect: IBM, Intel, Microsoft, and Google.

The podcast caught my attention; I’m not sure what I believe, but it certainly got me thinking about the topic. So I started to look into it…

First, I landed on Mars

Here’s Perseverance

According to Space.com, a car sized robot named Perseverance landed on Mars. Really? Yeah, supposedly just a few days ago. I thought we were still working on perfecting a moon landing.

Is it just me, or does this robot look a little flimsy.

Then, I helicoptered around

I read there’s a 4lb helicopter happily roaming around Mars. Right now. I’m not making this stuff up Space.com.

Well, there seems to be more truth to the podcast than I initially thought.

Why not throw in a quick trip to Jupiter

After this kind of a day, it’s only natural to segue to an evening sci-fi movie. Or is it sci-fi? After all, Jupiter is just on the other side of the Asteroid Belt.

We chose 2001: A Space Odyssey to keep the theme.

Current day ‘progress’ = I miss the 80s

We finished our out-of-this-world day with a 15 minute YouTube video:
